Additional Information regarding Online Application
Important Reminders:
- Effective April 1, 2007, all PA school personnel MUST have an up-to-date Pennsylvania FBI Federal Criminal History Record in addition to an up-to-date Child Abuse Clearance and Criminal History Check. Please go to the Frequently Asked Questions section (Under Smart Applicants) of the website for more information.
- When answering questions on the online application, please remember that all information must be able to be verified. See examples below:
- In the Certification Section of the Application, the "AREA(S) OF CERTIFICATION" must match the AREA(S) as listed on your certificate or you must be in the process of receiving that certification,
Example: If you hold a Social Studies (7-12) certificate. That is the only Social Studies certification you list. Be aware that districts know the courses you are qualified to teach in each area of certification.
- Do not indicate you have National Board Certification unless you have completed the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) nationally recognized, high-quality professional development program and are in receipt of the National Board Certificate. For more information on this subject or on how to become National Board Certified, please visit their website.
- This application is the PA Standard Application adjusted to fit the PA-Educator.net website. Failure to follow directions or having incorrect information on the application may disqualify you when a district is screening applicants. Please read the "Certification and Release Authorization" statement at the end of the application.
- Additionally, all documents MUST be accompanied by a coversheet that includes your name and social security number (See "Document and Mailing Instructions") . Documents that do not have this information in the packet will not be processed.

Changes to PA-Educator.net
As requested by several districts, we have changed the "Favorites" feature of the website as explained below. This feature will now enable the Human Resources Administrator or the administrator responsible for the "Hiring Process" to better manage the applicant screening process via the creation of "folders." For example:
Updates:
- When viewing the PA-Educator Data Base Main Menu, you can click on "View Flagged Applications" to view the folders you have created for storing applicant files for screening purposes or to create a new folder to store applicant files for future reference. (This has replaced the "View Favorites" portion of the website.
- After conducting an applicant search, you can screen the applicants and select those that meet your criteria for an interview. You add each applicant selected for an interview by clicking the "Add to Flagged Applications" button on the first page of the applicant's application. This button is located in the yellow box below the "Documents Associated with this Application." You add the applicant file to either an existing folder or create a new folder.
New Features:
- After conducting an applicant search, you can send individual applicant files or send the entire results (in batches of 50) to an administrator for further screening or hold them in a Flagged Folder for your further screening. Click the "select" box for each applicant of interest and "Send to a flagged folder" for storage in a file you have already created or you can create a new flagged folder for storage. You can also click the "select" box for each applicant you want to select, and the click "Share Link(s)" which will enable you to send the information to another administrator.
- You are now able to create a sub folder within an existing flagged folder to further track information. An example would be that you have 20 applicants for a Biology position. You store them in a Flagged Folder called "Biology 101". You may want to create a sub folder of 10 applicants for the HS principal to screen and another sub folder of 10 applicants for the supervisor of science to screen. You may want to label them with the names/titles of the Administrators to whom you send the files for further screening.

- Sub folder - HS Principal
- Sub folder - Science Department Supervisor
And put in each folder the applicant files that you send them for screening.
