How long does my application stay on

There is no limit to how long you can keep your application on; however, automatically deletes files that have not been updated for more than one full calendar year. Deleted files are removed from the database and recovery is not possible.

What do school districts look for in an applicant's file?

School districts have the ability to search the database using various criteria such as GPA, years of experience, degree level, complete file, etc. If your application is incomplete, your name will not come up in a school district search if a "Complete File" criterion is used.

How do school districts contact applicants?

School districts usually use the email feature of the website. It is important, therefore, that you keep your email address up-to-date. You will also want to make sure to check your "spam/junk mail" folder daily to make sure that messages from are not being treated as spam.

What is a Complete File?

Non-Certificated Applicants - A "COMPLETE FILE" contains the following documents:
  1. Application
  2. Resume
  3. Letter of Interest
Certificated Applicants - A "COMPLETE FILE" contains the following documents
  1. Copy of Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151), Copy of Criminal History Background Check (Act 34), and the Cogent Registration ID Number of your FBI Clearance (Act 114).
  2. Copy of PA Professional Certificate or Placeholder (see Document Information and Guidelines under Smart Applicants to see if you qualify to use a placeholder until you receive your certification and exactly what we accept as a placeholder),
  3. Three to Six Letters of Recommendation
  4. Unofficial Transcripts
  5. Praxis Test Results
  6. Resume
  7. General Letter of Interest
  8. Essay

If you are missing one document or have not completed one text field, your file will be considered incomplete.
